KBS 2020

KBS 2020 will be held Sunday, June 21 to Saturday, June 27, 2020, at Shippensburg University in Shippensburg, PA.

Who is Eligible?

Male residents of Pennsylvania who have completed their junior year of high school and have at least one semester of high school remaining.

  • Only young men with outstanding qualities of leadership, character, scholarship, loyalty, and service to their school and community are to be considered.

  • Any individual who has previously attended a Boys State program is not eligible to attend a second session.

  • In the actual selection process, merit and ability are the two most important factors considered. Keystone Boys State is an equal opportunity program to all qualified candidates. Program fees are paid by American Legion  Posts and the American  Legion Department of Pennsylvania, with little or no expense to a young man and his family.

How to Apply?

  1. Complete the current year’s Keystone Boys State application (please note the KBS 2020 application will be made public Autumn 2019). After submitting your electronic application, a copy of your completed application form will be emailed to you. Our receipt of your electronic application will reserve your spot while funding is finalized by your sponsoring American Legion post.

  2. Print a copy of your completed application and deliver it to your sponsoring American Legion Post. The nearest post to you can be found on the American Legion website. You may need to contact more than one Post Commander or Adjutant to find a post that is able to sponsor you. If you have difficulty with this step, email the staff at kbsapplication@gmail.com. Please note many posts hold business meetings (where issues like whether to sponsor a KBS applicant are decided) on a monthly basis; depending on when you submit your application to a post, there may be a delay of a few weeks before it is processed.

  3. If, five to six weeks after you submit your full application, you have not received your emailed Welcome Packet, contact Sharon Delancey at 717.730.9100 and the staff at kbsapplication@gmail.com.

  4. If you have any questions about completing the application, please email the staff at kbsapplication@gmail.com.
